PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will be required to perform a variety of maintenance duties from uncomplicated to moderately difficult to complex, both inside and outside, on equipment, machinery, vehicles, the facility, and surrounding grounds.  The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must be familiar with the methods, practices, tools, equipment, material, and safety procedures used in the repair and maintenance of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and instrumental equipment used in regenerator servicing, refurbishing, and manufacturing.  

The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must possess the ability, desire, and motivation to learn and progress in a challenging environment.

The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must possess above average technical and mechanical aptitude as well the physical characteristics to perform the essential functions of the job. He/she must possess above average communication and interpersonal skills as he/she will be required to develop and/or nurture relationships with vendors, clients, management, co-workers, and all other resources. He/she must be organized, cooperative, and able to multi-task; he/she must be able to prioritize responsibilities and tasks. He/she must be able to change his/her focus in a moment’s notice.  The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must be detail oriented and proactive.

The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must perform as well as keep accurate records of routine maintenance and inspections of equipment and vehicles as applicable. He/she must be able to perform basic to advanced math calculations; troubleshoot and solve problems; provide ad hoc engineering services; read, comprehend, and interpret specifications and directions; and read, comprehend, and interpret various equipment and facility related schematics. He/she must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, internet, and email. He/she will be expected to assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned.  The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will be required to keep all he/she is privy to in strict confidence; his/her commitment to PAL-CON, Ltd.’s success is expected.

The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will be responsible for maintaining and/or servicing various tools, overhead cranes, water jets (including chillers and ROs), fiber laser, abrasive blasting and paint booths, hydrogen oven, welders, presses, shears, brakes, lifts, trucks, and trailers as well as the building, septic systems, and surrounding grounds. He/she must be cost conscious, effective, and efficient. Prior to the departure of job trailers and upon their return, the MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will ensure all tools and associated items are in working order and ensure the necessary supplies are on hand. He/she will ensure all the pertinent paperwork is easily accessible in each vehicle and trailer. He/she will also be responsible for providing training on the proper operation of all equipment, tools, and vehicles.

The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must have five years’ strong manufacturing mechanical experience. A college or technical school degree is a plus; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.  The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will be required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladder, and bend for extended periods of time in awkward positions in varying environments. He/she must possess a valid state’s driver’s license and appropriate insurance. He/she must understand, speak, read, and write English.

The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will report directly to the Maintenance Manager; he/she may work closely with the production superintendents. He/she must follow the proper chain of command.

The current work hours are 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Note that as production requirements change, this position’s hours will vary. This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period.
