PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER will be required to provide engineering expertise, guidance, and technical assistance by performing professional engineering tasks and by managing, reviewing, and evaluating work of consultants, contractors, and in-house staff in order to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate production and fabrication of regenerators, associated components, facilities, systems, and other custom products to meet our clients’ needs.

The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER will develop, prepare, and review plans, reports, and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions. He/he may be required to inspect products, structures, facilities, and/or system operations before, during, and after installation. He/she will be required to participate in policy and procedure reviews. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER must possess above average communication and interpersonal skills so to assist employees in understanding their positions and delegated tasks. He/she must be highly detail oriented; make and retain detailed notes and accurate records; and be able to implement processes necessary to alter designs timely. He /she must be familiar with the materials used and tasks performed at PAL-CON, Ltd.: moving, cleaning, cutting, pressing, welding, fitting, and brazing various steel components. 

Specifically, the PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER must have a working knowledge of engineering principles and techniques, engineering planning, equipment and materials used in engineering operations, mathematics, statistics, mechanics, power, physics, and chemistry as well as strength of materials. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER must be able to apply engineering principles to practical problems; use associated equipment and tools including various computer applications; make, read, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; express ideas clearly and concisely (verbally and in writing); relate abstract ideas to actual needs and adopt an effective course of action; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; maintain a professional demeanor; analyze situations and make sound decisions; organize and conduct multiple activities simultaneously; and write reports. 

The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER must be registered as a professional engineer with the state of Texas; he/she must have a bachelor’s degree, at a minimum, with at least five years’ experience in a manufacturing setting - experience with components of natural gas compressor stations is preferred. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER may be required to work in an outdoor or indoor environment for extended periods of time in mild to extreme conditions. He/she must possess a valid state’s driver’s license and appropriate insurance; must be computer literate; may be required to bend, lift, sit, stand, kneel, squat, etc. for extended periods of time; must understand, speak, write, and read English. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER will report directly to the President and/or Vice Presidents. He/she must follow the proper chain of command. 

The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER’s rate of pay is negotiable based upon his/her experience. The standard work hours are 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM; however, as production requirements change, this position’s hours will vary as well. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER may be required to travel independently, with management, or with crews. This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period.
