Helper - General Laborer
Shop; Shop-Travel Opportunities
PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. A HELPER will be required to perform a variety of manual tasks from simple to moderately difficult as assigned by a superintendent. A HELPER must take direction well and follow instructions without deviation.
A HELPER must be well organized, cooperative, detail oriented, and willing to learn. He/she must be able to work with others and communicate well. A HELPER must be/become familiar with the methods, practices, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and safety procedures necessary to use in the course of working in a fabrication shop environment. A HELPER must be able to operate hand and power tools and perform general housekeeping duties to ensure the area is relatively tidy and free from debris. A HELPER may be required to work in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time and operate basic equipment. A HELPER may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and bend for extended periods of time in awkward positions in varying environments. There is the potential to travel throughout the USA as a HELPER; being willing and able to travel is required unless otherwise advised in writing.
Experience on a fast-paced construction site or in a fabrication shop environment is preferred; the ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations are necessary. A HELPER must have a strong work ethic, be flexible, and be a self-motivated individual who can work independently when required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance is required. A HELPER must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English as well as pass a drug test.
The HELPER position is an entry level position with opportunity for advancement. The hours for this position will be determined by production requirements; however, typical fabrication shop hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM. This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period.
