Job Description: IMMEDIATE HIRE FOR SHOP WELDERS (MIG, STICK, TIG) - must pass weld test(s) and pass a drug test.

PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. A WELDER will be required to perform a variety of skilled duties as assigned by the foreman or superintendent varying from moderately difficult to complex. He/she must be experienced with building, repairing, and modifying steel structures and pipelines. PAL-CON, Ltd. utilizes the expertise of TIG, MIG, and stick welders.

A WELDER must be able to combine or separate metal parts of varying sizes, shapes, and thicknesses according to drawings, verbal or written work orders, or as directed by an immediate supervisor. A WELDER must be able to determine the proper technique to utilize given the assigned task. A WELDER must assure a proper weld; his/her work must be free from defects and must be performed in such a manner to prevent distortion or burning of components. A WELDER must be able to skillfully weld, braze, solder, and cut metal. A WELDER will be required to demonstrate his/her welding ability; he/she must successfully pass PAL-CON, Ltd.’s exclusive welding test(s).

A WELDER may be required to fabricate catwalks, pipelines, ductwork; construct, repair, or refurbish heavy metal structures; repair cracks; and deconstruct heavy metal structures, catwalks, pipelines, and ductwork. An experienced WELDER will be expected to convey his/her technical expertise, his/her aptitude for estimating material and time usage, his/her compliance with safety rules and regulations (Federal, state, local, and company), and the importance of quality control. A WELDER must take direction well and maintain a professional demeanor. He/she must be committed to the success of PAL-CON, Ltd.

A WELDER must also be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools; lift and/or carry equipment, materials, and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; climb a ladder; understand, read, write, and speak English; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work in awkward positions, confined spaces, or outdoor environments for extended periods of time. A WELDER must be able and willing to travel when required.

A WELDER is required to have at least two years’ experience in a fast-paced construction site or industrial manufacturing environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a Welding Certificate is preferred. A WELDER may be required to provide additional certifications or licenses depending on the area of assignment. A valid state driver’s license with current insurance coverage is preferred. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER will be required to provide engineering expertise, guidance, and technical assistance by performing professional engineering tasks and by managing, reviewing, and evaluating work of consultants, contractors, and in-house staff in order to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate production and fabrication of regenerators, associated components, facilities, systems, and other custom products to meet our clients’ needs.

The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER will develop, prepare, and review plans, reports, and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions. He/he may be required to inspect products, structures, facilities, and/or system operations before, during, and after installation. He/she will be required to participate in policy and procedure reviews. The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER must possess above average communication and interpersonal skills so to assist employees in understanding their positions and delegated tasks. The BRAZING FURNACE OPERATOR will be required to perform duties from moderate to complex as assigned in order to ensure safe, timely, efficient, and accurate production of components per specifications. The BRAZING FURNACE OPERATOR is responsible for the operation of the furnace; this includes, but is not limited to, the following: operating electronic valves and switches; adjusting and recording temperatures of the furnace and various parts per operating standards; troubleshoot; assist with repairs; and perform supervisory duties as assigned to complete the task(s) as assigned. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. The QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR will be required to test and inspect to specifications. When performing inspections records will be maintained and will conform to applicable standards. He/she will ensure accurate adherence blue print specifications as required to meet our production schedules as well as our clients’ operating schedules.

The QUALITY INSPECTOR must be experienced with blue prints, weld symbols, weld mapping, as built documents, heat numbers, matching heat numbers, weld specifications and MTRs, he/she will inspect for quality workmanship and compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.

Relevant experience is required. A degree in an Engineering Technology field is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required. AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is a plus. Five to 10 years of experience and working knowledge of engineered drawings and the ability to read and understand blueprints. The QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR may be required to work in an outdoor or indoor environment for extended periods of time in mild to extreme conditions. He/she must possess a valid state’s driver’s license and appropriate insurance. He/she must be able to climb ladders, must be able to bend, lift, sit, stand, kneel, squat, etc. for extended periods of time; and must understand, speak, write, and read English. The PAYROLL CLERK will assist with processing weekly payrolls: responsible for learning the payroll software system, compiling employees’ times, entering time and pay data as necessary, recording payroll activity to the general ledger, managing employee deductions and garnishments and other duties as assigned. The SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT will be required to perform a variety of duties from moderately difficult to complex in order to ensure safe, timely, efficient, and accurate production and fabrication of structures to blue printed specifications as required to meet our clients’ schedules.

The SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT will assist in the supervision of projects and personnel from a safety standpoint. He/she will be required to perform job safety, job hazard, and environmental analyses. The SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT must possess above average communication and interpersonal skills so to assist employees in understanding their positions and delegated tasks from a safety and environmental standpoint. He/she must be highly detail oriented; make and retain detailed notes and accurate records; supervise personnel from a safety standpoint, ensure the work area is hazard free, and be able to implement processes and/or procedures necessary to eliminate or avoid safety hazards. He /she must be familiar with the materials used and tasks performed at PAL-CON, Ltd.; including, but not limited to, the following: moving, cleaning, cutting, pressing, welding, fitting, and brazing various steel components. The SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT must be well versed in all the safety rules and regulations as they apply to the work being performed by PAL-CON, Ltd. whether at the shop or on a job site.

Specifically, our SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT will maintain and monitor closely all shop/job site activity to ensure all safety requirements are being met. On the job site, he/she will be considered the safety liaison between the office and the job site as well as between PAL-CON, Ltd. and our clients. He/she may be responsible for disciplining employees. He/she must be well versed in PAL-CON, Ltd.’s safety programs.

The SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT will be responsible to set and maintain the safety tone of the shop or job site. He/she will set the standards to be followed. He/she will ensure compliance with PAL-CON, Ltd.’s policies and procedures. He/she will be proactive and address all matters in a professional, respectful manner.

Two years’ experience as a safety manager or project manager with emphasis on safety is required; a college degree in a related field is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A HELPER will be required to perform a variety of manual duties from unskilled to semi-skilled, from simple to moderately difficult, as assigned by a superintendent. A HELPER may be required to take direction from tradesmen and craftsmen as well.

A HELPER must be well organized, cooperative, detail oriented, and willing to learn. He/she must have some mechanical ability; he/she must be able to work with others, communicate well, and take direction (written and verbal) well. A HELPER must be familiar with the methods, practices, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and safety procedures necessary to use in the course of working in a fabrication shop atmosphere. A HELPER must be able to operate hand and power tools; load and unload supplies, equipment, and office furnishings; assist tradesmen and craftsmen; perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned; and perform general housekeeping duties to ensure the area is relatively tidy and free from debris. A HELPER may be required to work in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time, climb ladders, and operate basic equipment. A HELPER may be required to lift up to 100 pounds, sit, stand, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and bend for extended periods of time in awkward positions in varying environments. A HELPER may be required to travel within the United States and abroad.

A HELPER is required to have at least six months’ experience on a fast-paced construction site, in a fabrication shop, or in a warehouse environment. The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is a must; a flexible, self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic who can work independently when required is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. He/she should possess a valid state’s driver’s license and appropriate insurance. A HELPER should understand English, written and verbal.
